One of the most effective ways to stop smoking is by the help of hypnosis. For over 100 years hypnotherapists throughout the world have been helping people with stopping smoking programs since the early 20th century.
Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years and hypnotists have been helping people change their behaviours throughout that whole time.
Since the early part of the 20th century however, professional hypnotherapists have specifically been helping people get over addictions, particularly stopping smoking.
Smoking is a simple habit. It is a repetitious behaviour that started out as an experiment for you and then continued to satisfy peer pressure. Accompanying that was the desire to fit in, look cool, be part of a gang and even as a defence mechanism as a person waves fire (the cigarette) in front of their face as a protection of their personal space.
I have even had people come into my clinic and tell me they smoke just to annoy their partners.
Everyone has their own reasons for starting and continuing to smoke cigarettes, or tobacco.
As that smoking experiment turns into a regular event, and your hand goes up to your mouth with the cigarette, it forges behavioural neural pathways in your brain that begin to look like neurological train tracks.
Your smoking habit then becomes a behaviour that is stuck on the train tracks again and again and again. Your brain is locked into a behavioural pathway. It is an unconscious habitual program.
Hypnosis is so effective in helping you stop smoking because it is able to access your unconscious mind.
Hypnosis is able to offer suggestions to your unconscious mind to replace the old behaviour of smoking with a new behaviour of non-smoking. The non-smoking behaviour can then become the dominant behaviour and override your behaviour of smoking.
The new forged neural pathways in your brain for non-smoking become the new automatic train tracks that guide your behaviours.
In the work that I do in helping people stop smoking through hypnosis there is also a cognitive behavioural element.
In other words I am not just giving suggestions to you but also presenting mental exercises to you to help you devise many different ways of thinking around your life as a non-smoker and encouraging new non-smoking behaviours.
A long time ago, when I was young, I was a smoker myself. Many people were in those days. So I know the importance of you not only having the new behaviour of a non-smoker but knowing why you are a non-smoker and enjoying the behaviours of being a non-smoker.
Hypnotic exercises help you go forward with all those ways of thinking as well as helping you change to the non-smoking behaviour.
I have helped thousands of people stop smoking with hypnosis. What they all say to me afterwards is that it was of the best things they ever did in their lives.
The sheer relief when you stop smoking is a beautiful kind of freedom that means you can breathe better, get fewer infections, have clearer skin, brighter eyes, reduced risks of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke and cancer.
You are able to do simple things better as a non-smoker such as climb the stairs, run for a bus without getting so out of breath, smelling great to your lover, taste your favourite dish more, save money, have better life insurance and possibly pay off your mortgage early. These are so worth stopping smoking for.
Of course changing any behaviour in your life requires dedication and commitment. Hypnosis helps you have that commitment and dedication and effectively fulfil your dream of stopping smoking and turn it into a reality.
It helps you think and act differently and leaves you with a strong new identity of being a non-smoker.
